Yun 8. huhtikuuta / Yun on April 8th

Otin tänä vuonna useita pääsiäiskuvia, joten tein niille erillisen postauksen. Kuvaamaan innostivat pääsiäiseen liitetty värikkyys ja pastellisävyt sekä Pullipeille tekemäni pääsiäisaskartelut. Ennen tätä en ollut askarrellut pääsiäiskoristeita varmaan vuosikymmeneen, mutta nyt päätin tehdä nukkekokoisia versioita propeiksi. On hauskaa, miten nukkeilu on innostanut minua juhlistamaan juhlapäiviä ylipäätään enemmän. Pidän tätä positiivisena sivuilmiönä, koska nyt oikeasti huomaan aina innolla odottavani tulevia juhlapäiviä. Se käy kyllä järkeen, että juhlapäivät tuntuvat merkityksellisimmiltä, kun niille on varannut tavallisesta poikkeavaa tekemistä, joka vielä "täytyy" tehdä silloin, eikä sitten ehkä joskus, jos muilta kiireiltä ehtii ja jaksaa. Toisaalta täytyy muistaa pitää tämä innostus myönteisenä asiana, eikä ottaa turhaa stressiä, vaikka jonkun juhlapäivän missaaminen ja hyvän kuvaidean toteuttamatta jääminen harmittaisikin. :'-)

I took several Easter photos this year, so I made them a post of their own. The colourfulness and pastel colours associated with Easter as well as the Easter crafts I made for my Pullips inspired me to photograph. Before this, I had not made any Easter decorations for probably a decade, but now I decided to make some doll-sized versions for props. It is fun how my doll hobby has got me into celebrating holidays more in general. I take that as a pleasant side effect, because now I genuinely find myself always looking forward to the upcoming holidays. It does make sense that holidays feel more significant when one has planned on them some activities that are out of ordinary and additionally something that "has to" be done then and not some other time, maybe, if I am not too busy or tired. On the other hand, I must remember to keep the excitement enjoyable, and not to take any unnecessary stress even if I felt vexed about skipping some holiday and good photo ideas. :'-)

Olen tyytyväinen, että päätin taas pitkästä aikaa askarrella polymeerimassasta. Vaikka pääsiäismunien pyörittely ei nyt itsessään ole mitenkään erityisen haastavaa, pitkän tauon jälkeen kynnys ottaa massat taas esille oli ehkä tavallista korkeampi. Siksi olikin hyvä, että tällaisella helpolla työllä pääsi mukavasti uudelleen alkuun ja jatkossa tulee polymeerimassaakin toivottavasti käytettyä taas enemmän.

Siveltimen ja paletin tein joskus viime vuonna, joten oli kiva päästä käyttämään vihdoin näitäkin kuvissa. Sivellin on tehty (muovisesta) vanupuikon varresta ja cossiperuukin trimmauksesta yli jääneistä kuiduista, paletti jäätelöpuikosta. :D

I am happy that I decided to craft from polymer clay again after a long time. Although the act of rolling the clay into Easter eggs was not particularly challenging in itself, getting started again needed maybe a bit more of determination than usually due to the long break. Therefore, it was good that an easy craft like this made returning to polymer clay and hopefully also using it more in the future easier.

I made the brush and the palette sometime last year, so it was nice to finally be able to use them in photos too. The brush is made of a (plastic) cotton bud handle and surplus fibre left over from a cosplay wig after styling it. The palette is made of an ice cream stick. :D

Nocturnesta on kaksi kuvaa, koska nuo kelta-viher-vaaleanpunaiset hiukset ovat niin täydellisen pääsiäisväriset. :D Sään yhtäkkisen lämpenemisen takia otin Pullipien kesämekot taas esille ja ihastuin tähän asukokonaisuuteen Nocturnella. <3

There are two photos of Nocturne, because that yellow-green-pink hair is so perfectly Easter-coloured. :D Due to the weather suddenly getting warmer, I fetched Pullips' summer dresses again and I fell in love with this outfit on Nocturne. <3

Viimeisenä uusi nukkeni Miku LOL: unboxing-postaus on vielä tekeillä, mutta olihan tuo puputeema liian sopiva hyödyntämättä jätettäväksi. :'D

Viime postauksen lopussa mainitsin Tampere Kupliin minua innostavana asiana. Tapahtuma sujuikin osaltani hyvin, vaikka en nukkemiittiin osallistunutkaan. Tamperetta tuli nähtyä myös Kupliin jälkeisenä viikonloppuna, kun Kamelot esiintyi Pakkahuoneella. 

Ehkä sään lämpenemisen takia olen löytänyt sen kevätfiiliksen, joka vielä viime postauksessa puuttui. Koska nätit, talviset maisemat ovat jo menneet täältä päin, ei varsinaisesti ole myöskään enää mitään menetettävää, ja oikeastaan vain toivoo, että ne loputkin lumet sulaisivat jo. :D Ja onhan pääsiäinenkin pajunkissoineen sellainen jokavuotinen kevään merkki. Etelämmässä asuvien nukkeharrastajien kirsikankukkakuvat puolestaan saavat toivomaan, että olisipa kukat (tai edes lehdet) puissa jo täälläkin. Kukat ovat ehdottomasti yksi suosikkitaustoistani kuvatessa. Keväässä innostavat myös muuttolinnut. Kaupungin äänimaisemaan palannut sepelkyyhkyjen kujerrus on erityisesti tuonut iloa arkeen.

At the end of the last post, I mentioned Tampere Kuplii as something I am excited about. The event went well for me as expected, even though I did not attend to the doll meeting. I got to see Tampere again on the following weekend too when Kamelot was performing at Pakkahuone.

Maybe due to the warmer weather I have found the spring mood I was still missing in the last post. Because the pretty wintry landscapes have already gone here, there is nothing to lose anymore either so I actually just wish the rest of the snow would melt already too. :D And of course, Easter and pussy willows are a yearly sign of spring. The doll collectors who live in more southern regions and are already posting photos of cherry blossoms, for their part, make me wish we would have flowers (or at least leaves) in the trees here too. Flowers are definitely one of my favourite backgrounds for photography. In spring, I am also excited about migratory birds. Especially the return of wood pigeons' coos to the city's soundscape has brought joy to my everyday life.

Tähän postaukseen olen koonnut talven aikana ottamiani sekalaisia nukkekuvia ja tällä kertaa joukkoon mahtuu vaihteeksi muutama figuurikuvakin. Kuvien ohella esittelen muutamia käsityöprojektejani, fiilistelen nukkeja ja figuurikokoelmaani ja lopussa kerron yleisistä kuulumisistani ja uusista nukkehankinnoista. 

I have gathered some miscellaneous doll photos I have taken during the winter to this post. This time there will be a few figure photos too for a change. In addition to photos, I will also present a few of my crafting projects, talk about my dolls and figure collection, and lastly share some general news and tell about my new doll purchases. 

 

Hatsune Miku 15th Anniversary KEI Ver.

Joulupostaukseen nämä kuvat eivät ehtineet, joten julkaisen ne nyt. Tämä figuuri oli ollut toivelistallani siitä asti, kun ensi kertaa näin sen, joten tilasin sen itselleni joululahjaksi Mandarakesta. Figuurissa ihastuin tuohon enkeliteemaan – se sopii Mikulle niin hyvin – mutta pidän myös toteutusta onnistuneena. Vaikka figuuri on Segan, huomaan figuurissa niitä samoja piirteitä, jotka ovat saaneet minut usein päätymään Taiton figuureihin, keskeisimpinä läpikuultavan muovin käyttö hiuksissa ja vaatteissa, liikkeen tuntu figuurin asettelussa sekä muista julkaisuista erottuva alusta. Laatu vastaa Segan tyypillistä prize-figuuria: muovissa on joitain näille tyypillisiä pieniä tummia värjäytymiä mutta ei muuta moitittavaa. Segalla on pari muutakin versiota tästä 15. vuosipäivän enkeli-Mikusta, mutta tämä KEIn versio on ehdoton suosikkini vaatetuksensa takia. 

These photos did not make it to the Christmas post, so I am posting them now. This figure had been on my wish list since I first saw it, so I ordered it from Mandarake as a Christmas for myself. I fell in love with figure's angel theme – it suits Miku so well – but I also like the execution. Despite it being a Sega figure, I notice there are the same features that have made me often choose Taito figures, the most important ones being the use of translucent plastic in the hair and clothes, the feel of movement in figure's pose, and unique stand that differs from other releases. The quality matches the usual Sega prize figures: the plastic has some small dark stains that are typical for these figures, but I do not have other complaints. Sega has a couple of other versions of this 15th anniversary angel Miku, but this KEI version is my unquestionable favourite because of the outfit.

Vaikka en ystävänpäivän allo-/amatonormatiivisista ja kaupallisista piirteistä pidäkään, on se hyvä tekosyy pastellinsävyisille söpöilykuville. Malliksi päätyi tämä FuRyun noodle stopper -figuuri, joka myös on uusi hankinta. Pidän figuurin konseptista, mutta mainittakoon, että joistain kulmista figuuri näyttää paremmalta kuin toisista nassun muotoilun takia. Taustalla pari Amusen pehmoa – olen erityisesti Alpacasso-tuotesarjan fani. :D

Koska nämä ovat ensimmäiset figuurikuvat tässä blogissa, tähän väliin muutama sana figuurikokoelmastani ja minusta figuurikeräilijänä: Aloitin figuurien aktiivisen keräilyn pari vuotta sitten. Tätä ennen minulla oli kyllä muutamia figuureita, mutta ei mitään suunnitelmallista pyrkimystä kokoelman kasvattamiseen. (Tässä figuureilla viittaan nimenomaan anime/videopeli/tms. -hahmoja esittäviin japanilaisfirmojen muovihahmoihin, joihin en laske esimerkiksi Pullipeja ja My Little Ponyja.) Kun päätin aloittaa figuurien aktiivisen keräilyn, halusin jonkin teeman kokoelmaa yhtenäistämään (ja samalla keräilyä rajoittamaan). Ensisijaiseksi keräilykohteeksi valikoitui Vocaloid-figuurit ja erityisesti Miku figuurijulkaisujensa paljouden takia: erilaisia Miku-figuureita löytyy laidasta laitaan, joten saisin kokoelmasta yhtä aikaa monipuolisen ja yhtenäisen. 

Riittävän julkaisumäärän lisäksi teeman tuli olla sellainen, etten kyllästyisi siihen. Vocaloid oli tältä kannalta suhteellisen varma valinta, sillä kuuntelen edelleen joitakin samoja tuottajia kuin 2000- ja 2010-lukujen vaihteessa Vocaloid-musiikin löytäessäni ja samalla löydän vieläkin jatkuvasti uusia suosikkeja.  Monet tuottajat ovat olleet minulle merkittävä inspiraation lähde ja laulusyntetisaattorimusiikkiyhteisöstä on tullut tärkeä osa elämääni. Niinpä Mikukin on minulle luovuuden ja yhteisön symbolina paljon enemmän kuin pelkkä äänipankin maskotti. Miku-figuurien katselu saa hyvälle mielelle, koska esteettisen arvonsa ohella ne ovat muistutus rakkaan musiikin olemassaolosta. Vocaloid-tuotteiden keräily on siis tavallaan osa laajempaa musiikin fanitusta ja tapa aineellistaa muuten pitkälti aineeton kiinnostuksenkohde.

Omistan muutamia figuureita myös muista lähdemateriaaleista, mutta lähdemateriaalin ja/tai hahmon henkilökohtainen merkittävyys on sellainen teema, joka pätee kaikkiin figuureihini. Toisin sanoen en ikinä osta figuuria ainoastaan sen esteettisen arvon takia, vaan figuurin lähdemateriaalilla pitää aina olla myös tunnearvoa. Kokoelmani koostuu pääosin prize-figuureista, mutta sallin itseni ostavan myös kalliimpia figuureita niistä lähdemateriaaleista, joista ei ole olemassa hyviä prize-hintaluokan figuureita. Tähän mennessä ainoat kalliimmat figuurini ovat Ōkamista (kaksi Nendoroidia ja yksi Pop Up Parade). Ōkami on minulle hirmuisen rakas ja nostalginen peli, mutta myös visuaalisesti vaikuttava, minkä takia toivoisin lisää uusia (budjettiin sopivia) julkaisuja tämän pelin hahmoista. Vocaloidin ja Ōkamin lisäksi kokoelmassa on pari figuuria Puella Magi Madoka Magicasta ja yksi figuuri Touhou Projectista. Muutama Segan ja FuRyun Touhou-prizeista on tällä hetkellä toivelistallani. :>

Nukkejen pukeminen ja posettaminen tekevät Pullipien kuvauksesta itselleni figuurien kuvausta mielekkäämpää, joten olen keskittynyt ensisijaisesti niihin, kun taas figuurit ovat olleet enemmän vain koristeina. Kevään edetessä olisi kuitenkin tarkoitus käydä kuvaamassa ulkona ainakin Nendoja.

Even though I do not like the allo-/amatonormative and commercial aspects of Valentine's Day, it is a good excuse to take cute pastel-coloured photos. This FuRyu's noodle stopper (also a new purchase) ended up as my model. I like the concept of the figure, but I should mention that it looks better from some angles than the others due to the face sculpt. A couple of Amuse's plushies in the background – I am especially fond of the Alpacasso product line. :D

Since these are the first figure photos on this blog, I am writing a bit about my collection and myself as a figure collector here: I started to actively collect figures a couple of years ago. Before that, I did have a few figures but no systematic effort to build a collection. (By figures, I here refer specifically to Japanese companies' plastic figures depicting characters from anime/video games/etc. and do not include for example Pullips or My Little Ponys in the count.) When I decided to begin collecting figures actively, I wanted to choose a theme to unify the collection (and, at the same time, to restrict collecting). The theme chosen was Vocaloid figures and Miku figures in particular due to the number of these releases: thanks to the variety of different figures, I would get a collection that is both versatile and coherent at the same time.

In addition to sufficient number of releases, the theme had to be something I would not get bored of. Vocaloid was a relatively safe choice from this point of view since I still listen to some of the same producers as when I discovered Vocaloid music at the turn of the 2000s and 2010s and, at the same time, still constantly find new favourites. Many producers have been a significant source of inspiration for me and the voice synthesizer music community has become an important part of my life. So, Miku as a symbol of creativity and community is much more than just a voice bank mascot to me. Looking at Miku figures makes me happy, because in addition to their aesthetic value, they are a reminder of my beloved music's existence. Therefore, collecting Vocaloid merch is in a way a part of larger act of admiring the music and a way to materialize an otherwise mostly immaterial interest.

I also own a few figures from other source materials, but the personal significance of the source material and/or the character is a theme that applies to all my figures. In other words, I never buy a figure just for its aesthetic value, but the figure's source material must have emotional value as well. My collection mostly consists of prize figures, but I allow myself to buy also more expensive figures from source materials from which there are no good releases in the price range of prize figures. So far, my only more expensive figures are from Ōkami (two Nendoroids and one Pop Up Parade). Ōkami is a very dear and nostalgic game for me, but also impressive visually, which is why I would like more of new (budget-friendly) releases from this game. In addition to Vocaloid and Ōkami, my collection includes a couple of figures from Puella Magi Madoka Magica and one figure from Touhou Project. A few of Sega's and FuRyu's Touhou prizes are currently on my wish list. :>

Dressing up and posing the dolls makes photographing Pullips more rewarding to me, so I have primarily focused on them while figures have been mostly just as decorations. However, when the spring comes, I intend to take some outdoor photos of at least my Nendoroids.

Lumisateessa / In the snowfall

Olin tammikuun alussa kuvaamassa Pullip Lauraa ilta(päivä)hämärissä, ja nukkeparka joutui heti ensimmäisissä ulkoilmakuvauksissaan ääriolosuhteisiin, kun sankka lumisade alkoi juuri kuvaushetkellä. Tästäkin selvittiin. Postauksen ensimmäinen kuva on tästä samasta tilanteesta.

I photographed Pullip Laura at dusk in the early January. Poor doll already got into extreme weather conditions on her very first outdoor photoshoot as a heavy snowfall started at the time of the photoshoot. We survived though. The first photo of the post is from this same setting.

Noan laskiaisena / Noan on Shrovetide

Tein Noanille ja Yunille tällä hetkellä trendaavat "kissapipot" ja yhteensopivat kaulahuivit. (Yunin piposta ja huivista ei valitettavasti ole vielä kuvaa, mutta nämä ovat hiusten väriin yhteen sopien vaaleanpunaiset.) Oli hauskaa, kun kerrankin ei tarvinnut murehtia kavennuksista eikä pahemmin silmukoiden laskemisesta. Nämä valmistuvatkin niin nopeasti, että näitä voisi tehdä vaikka kuinka monta. :D Käytin näissä alpakanvillalankaa (Drops Air), joka oli niin pehmoista, että pitää varmaan ostaa muutama kerä lisää ja kutoa tai virkata jotain myös itselle (ei maksettu mainos).

Hain tässä kuvassa väriteemaa sekä suorien rajojen muodostamaa kerroksellisuutta ja syvyyttä. Kaupunkiympäristön kuvaaminen on hieman mukavuusalueeni ulkopuolella, mutta kuvasta tuli odotettua parempi ja olen tyytyväinen, että kokeilin tätä. Noan kyllä sopii hyvin nimenomaan kaupunkiympäristöön, joten kesällä olisi kiva ottaa kuvia, joissa olisi vaikkapa graffitimaalauksia tai valomainoksia taustana.

I made currently trending cat ear beanies and matching scarves for Noan and Yun. (I unfortunately do not have any photos of Yun's beanie and scarf yet, but they are pink matching the hair.) It was fun that for once there was no need to worry about decreases nor really count the stitches. These are so quick to make that I could make an endless number of them. :D I used alpaca wool yarn (Drops Air) for these and it was so soft that I probably must buy a few more balls and knit or crochet something to myself too (not a sponsored ad).

In this photo, I was seeking a colour theme as well as layering and depth created by straight edges. Photography in urban environment is slightly outside my comfort zone, but the photo turned out better than expected and I am glad that I tried this. Noan does fit particularly well in urban environment, so in the summer, I would like to take some photos with graffiti or illuminated signs in the background, for example.

Kävin taas kuvaamassa hautausmaalla tällä kertaa mukanani Albireo ja Laura. Tämä on ensimmäinen kerta, kun julkaisen postauksessa kuvan Albireosta, vaikka nukke on hengaillut täällä jo yli vuosikolmanneksen. Nuken kuvaaminen on kyllä inspiroinut, mutta en ole ollut ottamiini kuviin tarpeeksi tyytyväinen. Olen lisäksi halunnut kuvata nukkea nimenomaan stock-vaatteissaan, mikä on myös hieman rajoittanut kuvaamista, sillä mihinkään arkiseen ympäristöön näitä on vaikea saada sopimaan. (Toki tällainen voisi olla tarinankerronnallisesti hauska kuva. :D Näyttelijä tauolla roolipuvussaan, larppaaja ruokailemassa tai jotain...) 

Tein Lauralle uudet vaatteet viime vuoden puolella. Nuken stockit ovat kyllä todella nätit, mutta tämä asu sopii nuken hahmolle paremmin. Tarkoituksena on tosin kuvata myös stockeja jossain vaiheessa, kuvaideatkin ovat jo valmiina. Uusi asu koostuu mekosta, korsettivyöstä, hilkasta ja hartiahuivista (sekä stock-kengistä). Olen tässäkin mahdollisuuksien mukaan käyttänyt kierrätettyä materiaalia: esim. hilkan rusetit ja nauhat on otettu talteen lahjapakkauksista, vaatteiden hintalapuista, tms. ja vyö tehty kirpputoritapahtumasta ilmaiseksi saadusta pienestä jämänahkapalasta.

I went to take photos at the cemetery again, this time with Albireo and Laura. This is the first time I post a photo of Albireo even though I have had the doll for over a third of year. I have had inspiration to photograph him, but I have not been happy enough with the photos I have taken. In addition, I have wanted to take photos of the doll in stock clothes specifically, which has somewhat limited the photographing since the clothes are difficult to make fit into an everyday setting. (On the other hand, this could be a fun idea in terms of storytelling. :D An actor taking a break in his costume, a LARPer dining, or something...)

I made new clothes for Laura sometime at the end of last year. The doll's stock clothes are very pretty, but this outfit suits doll's character better. I intend to take photos of the stock clothes at some point as well, though; I already have ideas for photoshoots. The new outfit consists of a dress, a corseted belt, a bonnet, and a shawl (as well as the stock shoes). I have used recycled materials here too when possible: e.g., the bows and the ribbons have been saved from gift boxes, price tags of clothes, etc. and the belt is made of a small leftover piece of leather I got for free from a flea market event.

Säästin suosikkikuvani viimeisiksi. :D (Ne ovat tosin myös kronologisesti viimeisiä.) 

Olen niin ilahtunut siitä, miten Laura näyttää näissä kuvissa aivan omalta (toistaiseksi nimettömältä) hahmoltaan. En ollut edes suunnitellut näitä kuvia mitenkään, vaan huomasin vain, miten kivalta tuo aita näytti auringon laskettua kuvausretken aikana otolliselle korkeudelle. Sinänsä hauskaa, että juuri ne reissun ainoat ex tempore -kuvat onnistuvat parhaiten. Olen erityisen ihastunut tuohon lähikuvaan, joten tiedän jo nyt, että siitä tulee ainakin toistaiseksi se kuva, jonka postaan aina kun tarvitsen kuvan tästä nukesta nukkeprofiileihin, Instagramin storyihin, jne. Teitä on varoitettu. >:D

I am so pleased with how Laura looks just like her (for the time being nameless) character in these photos. I had not even planned these photos in any way, I just happened to notice how nice that one fence looked when the sun had set to an optimal angle during the photoshoot trip. It is kind of funny how the only extempore photos of the trip were the ones that turned out the best. I am especially fond of that close-up, and I already know that at least for now, it is going to be the photo I post whenever I need a photo of this doll whether it is for doll profiles, Instagram stories, etc. You have been warned. >:D

 

Lopuksi taas yleisiä kuulumisia:

Tällä hetkellä minua inspiroivia asioita ovat erityisesti uudet klassisen musiikin soittolistani sekä Pui Pui Molcar -tv-sarja. En ole huovuttanut mitään vuosiin, mutta katsotaan, alkaako tämän sarjan takia huovutus taas innostaa. Olisi kyllä hauskaa huovuttaa oma Molcar. ^^ Lisäksi innostaa viikonlopun Tampere Kuplii -tapahtuma sekä totta kai uudet nukkehankintani: tilaamani Miku LOL-versio ja Black Mao saapuivat juuri eilen. En ole ehtinyt avata vielä paketteja, mutta nuket näyttävät upeilta paketeissaankin. Miku LOL innostaa niin paljon ehkä siksi, että kyseessä on vanha ja suosittu julkaisu (klassikko!), jota on nähnyt koko nukkeharrastuksen ajan. Aina on miettinyt, että ehkä joskus minäkin hankin oman Mikun ja nyt sitten viimein minullakin on tämä julkaisu. :> Black Mao innostaa ehkä juuri päinvastaisista syistä: kyseessä on tuore julkaisu, josta en ole vielä nähnyt paljoa kuvia, mutta siitä huolimatta julkaisu kolahti välittömästi. Uusista julkaisuista tulee minulle vain harvoin heti näin vahvaa tunnetta, joten tässä julkaisussa on varmasti tehty ainakin jotain oikein. :D

Tuntuu oudolta, että nyt on virallisesti jo kevät. Vaikka kevät on suosikkivuodenaikani, ei ole vielä yhtään kevätfiilis, enkä haluaisi talven loppuvan vielä. Liian monta talvikuva- ja talvivaateideaa on vielä toteuttamatta. Toisaalta odotan jo pajunkissoja ja pääsiäiskuvien ottamista. :>

 

Lastly, some general news again:

The things that especially inspire me currently are my new classical music playlists and the Pui Pui Molcar TV series. I have not felted anything for years, but we will see if this series makes me start felting again. It would be fun to felt my own Molcar. ^^ Additionally, I am excited about the next weekend's Tampere Kuplii event and of course about my new doll purchases: the Miku LOL version and Black Mao I ordered arrived just yesterday. I have not unboxed them yet, but they look already great even in their boxes. I am so excited about Miku LOL because it is an old and popular release (a classic!) that I have been seeing throughout my doll hobby. I have always thought that maybe someday I will get myself my own Miku, too, and now I finally have this release. :> I am excited about Black Mao maybe for the exact opposite reasons: it is a new release of which I have not seen that many photos yet and yet it struck with me immediately. New releases rarely give me such strong feelings right away, so I guess they certainly made something right in this release. :D

It feels weird that it is officially spring already. Even though spring is my favourite season, I am not in spring mood at all yet and I would not want winter to end just yet. There are too many winter photo ideas to take and winter outfit ideas to make. On the other hand, I am already waiting for the pussy willows and taking Easter photos.

Tässä postauksessa joulukuun kuvasaldoa, koska ehdin kuin ehdinkin toteuttamaan muutamia jouluisista kuvausideoistani. :> Tässä postauksessa esiintyy myös pari uutta tuttavuutta, koska olen loppusyksyn ja alkutalven aikana hankkinut muutaman uuden nuken, joista en ole vielä tehnyt omia postauksia. Hiljattain hankin myös kameraani uuden objektiivin (Canon EF-S 24 mm f/2,8 STM), jonka käyttöä harjoittelen näissä kuvissa.

Neuloin nukeilleni aloituskuvassa näkyvän tonttupipon, joka päätyi Merlin päähän, koska hahmoistani Merl todennäköisimmin pitäisi tonttupipoa vapaaehtoisesti. :D Kuvaa Merlin koko asusta:

 

Some of December's photos in this post as I managed to realize a few of my Christmas themed photoshoot ideas. :> In this post there will be a couple of new faces, too, as during late fall and early winter I have bought several new dolls of whom I have not made posts before. Recently I also bought a new lens (Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM) which I am trying out in these photos.

I knitted a Christmas hat for my dolls (shown in the first photo) and it ended up on Merl, because wearing a Christmas hat voluntarily was most in character for her. :D Merl's whole outfit:

 

Seuraavaksi huijaan ja postaan vanhan kuvan, koska se on yksi suosikkijoulukuvistani. Suunnittelin ottavani tänä vuonna uusia versioita vanhoista joulukuvista ja katsoa, millaista kehitystä huomaan, mutta unohdin... Joka tapauksessa tässä kuva Nellasta vuoden 2014 jouluaattona.

Next, I am going to cheat by posting an old photo, because it is one of my favourite Christmas photos. I planned to retake some old Christmas photos this year to see how I have improved, but I forgot... Anyways, here is a photo of Nella on Christmas Eve 2014.

Seuraava kuva on ehdottomasti yksi suosikeistani niin lopputuloksen kuin toteuttamisenkin kannalta – pienten lahjapakettien askartelu oli hauskaa, tuosta peurakoristeesta tuli mielestäni supersöpö ja pääsin hyödyntämään Re-Ment-miniatyyrejani. Pitää ottaa enemmän tämäntyyppisiä kuvia. 

The next photo is one of my absolute favourites both in terms of the result and the process – making tiny presents was fun, I think that the deer ornament turned out super cute and I got to use my Re-Ment miniatures. I should take more photos like this.

Olin ostanut myös jouluaiheisia miniatyyreja, mutta valitettavasti en ehtinyt kuvata niitä kaikkia kunnolla. Esimerkiksi ostamistani jouluherkuista olen ottanut vain tämän seuraavan räpsyn. Toki nämä muuten piristivät ja toivat joulumieltä, vaikka kaikkea ei tullutkaan ikuistettua. Odotan vain jo ensi joulua, että pääsisin kuvaamaan näitä lisää. :D

I had also bought Christmas themed miniatures, but sadly I did not have time to photograph them all properly. For example, the next photo is the only one I have took of the Christmas foods I bought. However, despite not being able to photograph everything, they cheered me up and brought some Christmas spirit. I am already waiting for the next Christmas and getting to photograph these more, though. :D

 

Seuraavissa kuvissa Noanin kanssa uusi nukke eli Isul Yun (jonka arvostelupostaus on työn alla). Tuo lähikuva on paketoimiskuvan ohella suosikkini näistä postauksen kuvista ja ehkä jopa yksi koko vuoden suosikeistani. Joulukuusen koristelu on itselleni ehkä tärkein jouluperinne, joten oli hauskaa pystyä toteuttamaan se myös nukkekoossa. 

In the following pictures with Noan is a new doll, Isul Yun (on whose review I am working on). The close-up is, along with the gift-wrapping photo, my favourite of the photos in this post and maybe even one of my favourites of the whole year. Decorating the Christmas tree is probably the most important Christmas tradition to me, so it was fun to be able to do it in doll scale as well.

Viimeisenä vielä toinen uusi nukke: Pullip Laura. Lauran asu on itse tehty ja siitä on tulossa parempia kuvia myöhemmin. Tarkoituksena on ollut kuvata tätä ulkona lumessa (kuten myös muita nukkeja), mutta totta kai silloin, kun olisi ollut aikaa, niin satoi vettä monta päivää ja lumi suli rumiksi kasoiksi. No, talvea on vielä jäljellä ja luotan siihen, että ensi vuonna tulee suotuisia kuvaussäitä. ^^ 

Lastly, another new doll: Pullip Laura. Laura's outfit is made by me, and I will hopefully post better photos of it later. The plan has been to photograph it outside in the snow (as well as some other dolls) but of course when I would have had time, it rained for several days, which melted snow into ugly piles. Oh well, there is still winter left, and I trust that next year there will be favourable weathers for photoshoots. ^^

Yritän vielä kirjoittaa yhden postauksen ennen uutta vuotta, mutta varmuuden vuoksi toivotan kaikille hyvää alkavaa vuotta jo nyt. :>

Syyskuvien aika!

Vierailin paikallisessa esittelypuutarhassa Megin ja Nellan kanssa. (Nellan kuvat julkaisen myöhemmin.) Alun perin tarkoituksenani oli mennä jo kesällä, mutta en ehtinytkään. En kuitenkaan ole turhan harmistunut tästä, sillä mielestäni puutarha näyttää upealta myös syksyllä, kun monet puut ja kasvit ovat saaneet ruskavärityksensä. Puutarha on sitä paitsi varsin suosittu paikka kesäisin, joten kuvien ottaminen oli nyt helpompaa, kun ihmisiä oli vähemmän. Ehkä ensi vuonna tulee tilaisuus ottaa täällä myös kesäkuvia. Joka tapauksessa: tervetuloa seuraamaan Megin seikkailuja puutarhassa. :D

Time to post some autumn photos!

I visited a local demonstration garden with Meg (and Nella but I will post the photos of her later). I actually meant to go already in the summer, but in the end, I did not have time. I am not too disappointed about that, though, because I think the garden looks amazing in the autumn, too, when many trees and plants turn into their autumn colours. Besides, the garden is quite popular in the summer, so it was easier to take photos now when there were fewer people around. Maybe next year I get a chance to take some photos here in the summer as well. Anyways, welcome to follow Meg's adventure through the garden. :D

 

Tajusin, ettei minulla ole vieläkään kunnollisia kuvia Megistä stock-asussaan. Olin jo suunnitellut täydellisiä kuvauspaikkoja elokuulle, mutta olinkin silloin odotettua kiireisempi, joten nuo suunnitelmat jäivät toteuttamatta. Vaikuttaa siltä, että suosikkiasuni Megillä koostuvat Megin stockien ja Merliltä lainattujen vaatteiden yhdistelmistä. Baskerin virkkasin jämälangasta, jossa oli nipin napin tarpeeksi (huh), ja huivin kudoin bouclé-langasta. Uusien tekstuurien kokeilu nukeilla on hauskaa. ^^

I realized that I still do not have any proper photos of Meg in her full stock outfit. I had planned some perfect locations for photoshoots in August, but I turned out to be busier than I expected, so those never got carried out. Seems like my favourite outfits for Meg consist of her stock pieces as well as borrowed clothes from Merl's stock. I crocheted the beret out of leftover yarn that was just barely enough (phew) and her scarf is knitted from bouclé yarn. It is fun to experiment with different textures on dolls. ^^

Tämä on ihan täydellinen paikka kuvauksille pienten polkujen, kivien ja aitojen ansiosta – uusia ideoita tulee, minne tahansa katsoo. Vierailin puutarhassa itse asiassa kahtena päivänä, mutta ei silti vielä tunnu, että olisin tutkinut sen täydellisesti läpi. Kaksi seuraavaa kuvaa ei ole otettu puutarhassa, mutta postaan ne nyt joka tapauksessa, koska sopivat teemaan. Nuken neuletakki on itse tehty kuten myös toppi ja collegehousut. (Nämä näkyvät huonosti päällysvaatteiden alta, mutta lisää kuvia kesältä on tulossa... joskus.) Aurinkolasit, huivi ja pipo ovat Mildan Boutiquen.

The tiny paths, rocks and fences make this a perfect place for photoshoots – you get new ideas wherever you look. I actually visited the garden on two days, but I still do not feel that I have fully explored it yet.  The two following photos of Noan were not taken at the garden, but I post them here anyways because they kind of fit the theme. The doll's cardigan is made by me as well as the top and the sweatpants. (They cannot be properly seen under the outerwear, but more photos from the summer will be posted... someday.) Sunglasses, scarf and beanie are from Mildan Boutique.

Yöt kylmenevät, mutta en ole nähnyt vielä lunta. Oikeastaan jo odotan ensilumen tuloa, sillä lumesta saa niin kivoja taustoja kuville, vaikka lumessa toki on omat ongelmansa. :D Todennäköisesti tulen myös ottamaan enemmän kuvia sisätiloissa, joten yritän tällä hetkellä löytää ja tehdä hyviä proppeja ja taustoja tätä varten. Mitä teille kuuluu?

Nights are getting cold here, but I have not seen snow yet. I am actually kind of looking forward to first snow. :D Sure, snow has its problems, but it also makes great backgrounds for photos... I will probably be taking more photos indoors, too, so I am currently trying to find and make good props and backgrounds for that. How are you all doing?

Beach photos and catching up

 

Viime postauksesta on kulunut yli kuukausi ja sillä aikaa on ehtinyt tulla syksy. En kuitenkaan ole vielä ehtinyt julkaista montakaan kuvaa kesältä, joten postaan niitä nyt. Tämän postauksen kuvat on otettu kolmella eri kuvauskerralla, mutta niillä on yhteinen rantateema. Postauksen lopussa höpötän vielä nukkeiluun liittyvistä kuulumisista yleisesti.

It has been over a month since the last post and meanwhile it has become autumn already. However, I have not had chance to post many summer pictures yet so I will do it now. The photos in this post are from three different photoshoots but they have a common theme: beaches. I will also ramble about doll-themed things in general at the end of the post.

Nämä ensimmäiset kuvat on otettu 27. kesäkuuta. Pahimpien hellekelien aikaan säälin Pullipejani, joilla ei ollut kunnollisia hellevaatteita tarpeeksi. Niinpä tein tämän vekkihameen ja virkatun topin:

These first photos were taken on June 27. During the worst heatwave I felt bad for my Pullips who did not have enough proper clothes for the hot season. This is why I made this pleated skirt and the crocheted top:

Hame on tehty vanhasta kangasnäytteestä, joka riitti aivan nipin napin. Yksi suosikkiasioistani nukkeharrastuksessa onkin, että voin hyödyntää ja kierrättää materiaaleja, jotka muuten jäisi käyttämättä. Olin niin innoissani uudesta asukokonaisuudesta ja hienosta kuvaussäästä, etten malttanut odottaa, että saan hameen vekit silitettyä. Tämän takia hame näyttää siistimmältä myöhemmissä kuvissa. :P

Virkattuun toppiin sain inspiraation ohikulkijalta puistossa. Topissa on nyörikiinnitys takana. Innostuin tekemään näitä loman aikana useampia eri väreissä, sillä oli parhautta vain istua ulkona ja virkata, kun energiaa ei hellesään takia riittänyt kunnolla muuhun.

The skirt is made of an old fabric sample which was just barely large enough. Being able to utilize and recycle materials that would otherwise have no use is one of my favourite parts of the doll hobby. I was so excited about the new outfit and the great weather for a photoshoot that I did not have time to iron the pleats. This is why the skirt looks neater in later photoshoots. :P

I got the idea for a crocheted top from a passer-by in a park. It has lacing on the back. I made several of these in different colours during the holiday because sitting outdoors and just crocheting was the best pasttime when I did not have energy to do anything else due to the hot weather.

Kun näin tämän pikkuruisen polun kulkevan tyrnipensaiden seassa, tiesin, että siitä olisi pakko saada kuva. Polku on juuri sopivan kokoinen nukeilleni ja rakastan kuvata Merliä puiden ja kasvien seassa, sillä näissä kuvissa Merl tuntuu eniten itseltään. Olen aina pitänyt Merliäni ulkoilmaihmisenä ja sellaisena pienenä seikkailijana. Niinpä haluan aina löytää uusia paikkoja Merlille seikkailtavaksi. :-)

When I saw this tiny path going in the middle of sea-buckthorn shrubs, I knew I had to get a photo of it. I think it is perfect size for my dolls and I love taking photos of Merl among trees and plants because in these photos Merl feels most like herself. I have always thought Merl as an outdoorsy person and as my little adventurer. That is why I always want to find her novel places to adventure in. :-)

 

 

Tästä kuvasta erikoiskiitos veljelleni, joka oli pitelemässä kartonkia auringon edessä liian vahvojen varjojen välttämiseksi. :D 

I want to give a shoutout to my brother who agreed to hold a cardboard in front of the sun while I was taking this photo in order to block too sharp shadows. :D

Seuraavat kuvat on otettu 22. elokuuta. Tässä välissä tilasin Etsystä Pullipeille hellehatun ja tennarit. Kengät ovat onnekseni juuri oikean väriset ja pysyvät nuken jaloissa hyvin. Olen myös todella tyytyväinen hellehattuun – se sopii Merlille täydellisesti. Vaihdoin hattuun lilan nauhan, joka sopii yhteen kenkien ja topin kanssa. Pakko myöntää, että ihastuin tähän asukokonaisuuteen ja siitä muodostui nopeasti yksi ehdottomista suosikeistani (mikä on pääteltävissä ehkä jo valokuvien määrästä :P). 

The following photos were taken on August 22. Before these, I had ordered my dolls a sun hat and sneakers from Etsy. I am glad that the sneakers are exactly the right colour and they stay in doll's feet well. I am also very happy with the sun hat as it fits Merl perfectly. I changed the hat's ribbon into a lilac one which matches the shoes and the top. I have to admit that I fell in love with this outift and it very soon became one of my absolute favourites (which you can maybe tell from the number of photos taken :P).

Tällä välin meille ehti saapua myös uusi tulokas: Meg. Keskityn kuitenkin tässä postauksessa ottamiini kuviin, joten säästän pidemmät sepustukset ja fiilistelyt uudesta nukesta toiseen kertaan. Joka tapauksessa Meg pääsi lähes samantein malliksi virkkaamilleni bikineille ja hellehatulle:

During the time between photoshoots, I also got a new doll, Meg. However, in this post, I focus on photography, so I will save the exhaustive commentary about this for another time. Anyway, Meg ended up modeling the bikinis and sun hat I crocheted almost instantly:

Nämä viimeiset kuvat on otettu 23. elokuuta eli päivä edellisten jälkeen. Kerrassaan rakastan kuvata Merliä merenrannoilla ehkä koska ne ovat itselleni niin rakkaita ympäristöjä. Meriaiheinen stock-asu oli yksi niistä tekijöistä, jotka saivat minut valitsemaan juuri Merlin ensimmäiseksi nukekseni – Merl oli aivan kuin täydellinen minulle. Merl on kieltämättä ollut aina yksi niistä nukeista, jotka inspiroivat minua kaikkein eniten: kuvausideoille ei näy loppua.

These last photos were taken on August 23, one day after the previous ones. I absolutely love to photograph Merl at the seashores maybe because they are such dear environments to me personally. Merl's marine-themed stock outfit was one the factors that made me choose her as my first doll – Merl felt just perfect for me. Merl has admittedly always been one of the dolls that inspire me the most: the photoshoot ideas will not run out anytime soon.

Olen jotenkin erityisen mieltynyt yllä olevaan kuvaan, sillä minusta vaatteiden värit sopivat hirmuisen hyvin taustan väreihin. Tästä kuvasta välittyy itselleni myös sellainen rauhallinen tunnelma – toivon, että se välittyy teillekin!

I somehow particularly like the photo above, because I think the colours of the clothes match the colours in the background awfully well. This photo also conveys a peaceful atmosphere to me – I hope it conveys it to you as well!

Meg lainasi Merlin stock-mekkoa näitä kuvauksia varten. Pidän tämän(kin) kuvan taustasta paljon, sillä se sopii Megille niin hyvin – Meg näyttää kovasti itseltään tässä kuvassa. :D
On sinänsä huvittavaa, että olen miettinyt nukkejen persoonallisuuksia, taustoja ja ihmissuhteita jo melko kattavasti valmiiksi, mutta nukeille ei silti vieläkään ole valittu omia nimiä. Joitain nimikandidaatteja on kyllä jo harkittu, joten saa nähdä, josko saisin osan nimistä lyötyä lukkoon vielä tämän vuoden puolella...

In a way, it is funny that I have planned my dolls' personalities, backstories and relationships pretty comprehensively but have not decided their names yet. I have considered some name candidates, though, so we will see, if I can choose at least some of the names later this year...

Huomatkaa vene taustalla! Vaikka sen ilmestyminen täydelliselle paikalle oli puhdasta sattumaa, se on minusta siisti pieni yksityiskohta. Nämä olivat kesän viimeiset kuvat, joten oli myös hauskaa päättää kesäkausi johonkin vähän erityiseen ja muistettavaan.

Merl is bonding with the newcomer... I am sure they will become great friends! :-)
Please notice the boat in the background! The appearance of the boat in the perfect location was purely a coincidence but I think it is such a fun little detail. How cool is that. These were the last photos of the summer, so I think it was fun to end the season to something a bit special and memorable.

Lopuksi vielä muita kuulumisia:

Tilasin Nellalle uuden peruukin, joka saapui viime viikolla. (28. elokuuta tuli muuten kuluneeksi kahdeksan vuotta siitä, kun sain Nellan!) Peruukin väri on juuri sellainen kuin odotinkin, mutta se jäi odottamaan vielä otsahiusten trimmaamista. Katson, josko saisin urakoitua tämän projektin loppuun tänä viikonloppuna. Lisäksi olen saamassa erään toisen projektin valmiiksi piakkoin, enkä malta odottaa, että pääsen kuvaamaan sitä.

Kieltämättä harmittaa, etten ole ehtinyt kuvaamaan nukkeja syksyn aikana käytännössä ollenkaan opiskelukiireiden takia. Syksy on suosikkivuodenaikani: rakastan kerrospukeutumista, syksyn värejä ja lämmittäviä teekupposia. Toivon säiden olevan suotuisia ja ehtiväni kuvata nukkeja näiden teemojen parissa vielä tänä syksynä. :-)   

Finally, some general catch-up:

I ordered a new wig for Nella and it arrived last week. (By the way, on August 28th it was Nella's eight anniversary!) The colour of the wig is exactly what I expected but I want to trim the fringe a bit. I will see if I can get it done this weekend. Additionally, I have another project I will finish soon and I cannot wait to take photos of it.

It is a shame that I have not had time to take photos of my dolls during the fall practically at all due to being busy with my studies. Autumn is my favorite season: I love layered clothes, autumn colours and warming cups of tea. I hope the weather will be favourable and I will have time to photograph dolls with these themes this fall. :-)
