Vuoden viimeisen postauksen aika... 

Näin vuoden lopussa päätin omaksi ilokseni kirjoittaa pienen tiivistelmän siitä, mitä kaikkea tänä vuonna on tapahtunut ja mitä tuleva vuosi mahdollisesti tuo tullessaan. Lisäksi postaan uudelleen muutamia suosikkikuviani tältä vuodelta.

 As it is the end of the year, I decided to entertain myself by writing a little recap on what has happened this year and what will possibly happen the next one. I am also reposting some of my favourite photos from this year.  

 

Nukkeharrastuksen pariin palaaminen / Returning to the hobby

Postauksen aloituskuva on toukokuulta ja ensimmäinen, jonka otin pitkän tauon jälkeen. Nukkeiluharrastus oli jäänyt taka-alalle vuosien ajaksi kiireiden takia, mutta innostus nukkeiluun oli vielä tallella. Kesäkuun alussa perustin Instagram-tilin esitelläkseni tekemiäni nukenvaatteita ja ottamiani valokuvia sekä verkostoituakseni muiden harrastajien kanssa. Näihin aikoihin aktivoiduin myös Pullip Suomi -foorumilla. Harrastuksen pariin palatessa minulla oli kolme nukkea: Merl, Nella ja uusimpana Classical Alice Sepia, jonka olin hankkinut vuonna 2015. Viime hankinnoista oli siis kulunut aikaa jo jonkin verran, kun päätin heinäkuussa tilata kaksi suosikkiani uudemmista julkaisuista, Pullip Noanin ja Seila Nocturnen. Havaitsin, että minulla riitti paljon enemmän puhuttavaa uusista hankinnoistani kuin mitä Instagramiin oli mahdollista kirjoittaa, minkä seurauksena päätin perustaa uuden blogin. Tätä postausta kirjoittaessani blogin bannerina on tämän postauksen aloituskuva, sillä heinäkuussa minulla ei ollut vielä sopivampia uusia kuvia. Väliaikaiseksi tarkoitettu banneri onkin sitten vain jäänyt tuohon... :D Nyt voisi olla sopiva aika blogin ulkoasun ilmeen muutokselle.

The opening photo of the post is from May and the first photo I took after a long break. I had been inactive in this hobby for years due to being busy with other things, but the enthusiasm was still there. At the beginning of June, I started an Instagram account to showcase the doll clothes I had made and the photos I had took as well as to network with other enthusiasts. Around this time, I also became active on the Finnish Pullip forum again. When I made my return to this hobby, I had three dolls: Merl, Nella and the newest addition, Classical Alice Sepia, which I got in 2015. So, some time had passed since my last doll purchase when in July I decided to order my favourites from the newer releases, Pullip Noan and Seila Nocturne. I realized that I had much more to say about these new purchases than it was possible to write on Instagram. Therefore, I decided to start a new blog. As I am writing this post, the blog's banner is still the same as this post's opening photo, because in July I did not have more suitable new photos, yet. Then the banner which was meant to be a temporary placeholder was just forgotten there... :D I guess it would be a good time to change the appearance of the blog.

 

Nukkekokoelman tilanne ja haaveilua / Current doll collection and daydreaming

Heinäkuussa kokoelmani käsitti siis viisi nukkea, mutta jotenkin tämä määrä ehti loppuvuoden aikana vielä kaksinkertaistumaan (joskin harkituilla ostoksilla). Elokuussa hankin Megin, syyskuussa Yunin ja Reonhardtin, lokakuussa Lauran ja marraskuussa Albireon. Vuoden aikana sain siis suuren osan toivelistastani toteutettua, eikä suunnitelmissa ole enää kovin montaa uutta hankintaa. Pullipeista ainoa selvä graali on Seila, vaikkakin haaveilen Alurasta Lauran kaveriksi. Lisäksi olen miettinyt jotain julkaisua tummilla meikeillä ja tuimemmalla ilmeellä. Keres vaikuttaisi olevan kokonaisuudessaan suosikkini tällä hetkellä, vaikkakin olen miettinyt myös Wilhelminaa ja Mad Hatter in Steampunk Worldia. Myös Principessa on kiinnostanut, mutta esteenä on ollut stock-vaatteiden tekstuuri, josta en pidä laisinkaan. Tämän takia uusista julkaisuista Manasta tuli heti suosikkini, koska nukessa on paljon samaa kuin Principessassa, mutta lisäksi vielä upeat stockit. Kahta nukkea tummansinisillä meikeillä en kuitenkaan ole hankkimassa, sillä minulle on tärkeää, että kaikki kokoelmani nuket erottuvat toisistaan riittävästi – "riittävä" on toki melko epätarkka määritelmä :D – ja tällä hetkellä Keres näyttäisi todennäköisimmältä nukkelisäykseltä.

In July, my collection consisted of five dolls, but somehow the number had doubled by the end of the year (albeit with deliberate purchases). In August I got Meg, in September Yun and Reonhardt, in October Laura and in November Albireo. Thus, during the year I managed to obtain a large part of my wish list, and I am not planning on making many new purchases anymore. At the moment, the only true grail of Pullips is Seila, although I am dreaming of Alura to accompany Laura. I have also considered getting some release with dark make-up and stern look. Keres seems to be my overall favourite, although I have considered also Wilhelmina and Mad Hatter in Steampunk World. I have been interested in Principessa as well, but I do not like the texture of her stock clothes, which has felt like a deal breaker. This is why Mana instantly became my favourite of the new releases as this doll has similarities with Principessa but also absolutely wonderful stock clothes. However, I am not going to buy two dolls with dark blue make-up, because I find it important that all the dolls in my collection stand out adequately – "adequate" being admittedly a vague definition :D – and at the moment, Keres looks like the most probable doll addition.

Kereksen lisäksi haaveilen edelleen Pullip Hatsune Mikusta. Sinänsä nurinkurista, että olen vuosien aikana kasvattanut Miku-figuurikokoelmaani, mutta tätä Pullip- ja Miku-kokoelmani yhdistävää linkkiä en ole raaskinut ostaa. Tämä johtuu ehkä siitä, että vierastan hieman hahmojen tai henkilöiden pohjalta tehtyjä julkaisuja (aiemmin mainittu Mana mukaan lukien), koska tuntuu vaikealta nähdä tällaisia julkaisuja muina kuin "itseinään". En usko, että saisin ikinä kehitettyä näille nukeille muuta hahmoa ja tästä syystä esimerkiksi Rozen Maiden -julkaisut on jäänyt hankkimatta, vaikka Rozen-tytyillä paljon nostalgia-arvoa onkin. Mikua joutuisin siis kuvaamaan muista nukeista erillään, koska Miku ei "nukke-loreeni" sovi. :D Tämä siis liittyy pelkästään omaan mielikuvituksettomuuteeni, eikä minulla ei ole mitään sitä vastaan, että muut käyttävät hahmoihin tai henkilöihin perustuvia julkaisuja omina hahmoinaan.

In addition to Keres, I am still daydreaming about Pullip Hatsune Miku. It is kind of funny that during these years I have grown my Miku figure collection, and yet I have not dared to buy the link that would connect my Pullip and Miku collections. This might be because I seem to shun releases based on characters or real people (including previously mentioned Mana): I just find it difficult to see releases like this as anything else than what they are meant to be, and I feel like I could not come up with an original character for these dolls. This is why I have skipped for example the Rozen Maiden releases, despite their considerable nostalgic value. So, I would have to photograph Miku separately from the other dolls as Miku does not fit my "doll lore". :D To make this clear, this is about my lack of imagination and not that I would have anything against people using releases like this for their own characters.

Kokoelmastani puuttuu vielä sellainen totaalinen söpöily-Pullip kaikkia pastelliröyhelöprojekteja varten. Yhdessä kohtaa mietin The Secret Garden of White Witchiä, mutta uusi mahdollinen Angelic Pretty -prototyyppi kiinnostaa sen verran paljon, että jään odottamaan lisätietoja tästä julkaisusta. Sitten on vielä olemassa sellainen "ehkä"-lista, jolla ovat muun muassa Kühn, NieR Chan, My Melody x Hennako ja Kuromi. Tällä listalla olevissa nukeissa arveluttaa se, ovatko ne liian samanlaisia kokoelman muiden nukkejen kanssa ja riittääkö näille kuvausideoita. Lisäksi haluaisin vielä Pullipin, jolla on ruskean- ja/tai vaaleanpunaisensävyinen pehmeä ja lempeä meikki. Olen miettinyt esimerkiksi Angea, My Melody Pink Versionia ja Cassieta. Pitäisi vain päättää, mikä julkaisu on paras, sillä montaa tämän(kään)tyyppistä nukkea en aio ostaa. Kaiken lisäksi olisin vielä kiinnostunut toteuttamaan muutaman idean MIO-Pullipilla, mutta samalla pelottaa, että jos innostun customoinnista enemmänkin, niin tuleeko siitä loppua ollenkaan. XD

My collection is still missing a kind of cuteness overload Pullip for all my pastel ruffle projects. At one point, I was thinking of The Secret Garden of White Witch, but the new possible Angelic Pretty prototype got me so interested that I am going to wait for more information about this release. Then there is the "maybe" list on which for example Kühn, NieR Chan, My Melody x Hennako and Kuromi are. For dolls on this list, I am unsure if they would be too similar to other dolls in the collection and if I had enough photoshoot ideas for them. Additionally, I would like to have a Pullip with a soft and gentle-looking face-up with brown and/or pink shades. For example, I have considered Ange, My Melody Pink Version and Cassie, but I should decide which one it is as I am not going to buy several dolls of this kind (either). On top of everything, I am interested in actualizing a couple of ideas on MIO Pullips, but I am also scared that I get too excited about customizing and there will not be end in sight for new projects. 

Taeyangien ja Isulien suhteen toivelista on onneksi selvempi. Taeyangeista aidosti kiinnostavat enää Nosferatu ja Natsume, Isuleista Glen ja Black Mao. Valitettavasti tosin myös muutama Dal on alkanut kiinnostaa, vaikka olin vannonut, että Daleja en osta. Kyseessä ovat Lyla, Ende ja Joujou, mutta näitä pitää todella harkita, sillä hyllytila on rajallinen. :'D 

Luckily, my wishlists for Taeyangs and Isuls are clearer. For Taeyangs, Nosferatu and Natsume are the only dolls I am really interested in and for Isuls, Glen and Black Mao are the only ones. Unfortunately, I have also got interested in a few Dals despite having sworn that I will not buy any Dals. The releases in question are Lyla, Ende and Joujou, but this is something that still requires serious consideration, as the shelf space is limited. :'D

Tänä vuonna Nella sai uuden peruukin. Ensi vuonna pyrin ostamaan uuden peruukin ainakin Albireolle, ellei tässä käy samalla tavalla kuin Lauran kanssa: olin jo suunnitellut hankkivani tälle nukelle mustan pitkän keskijakauksellisen peruukin tai mustan mohairin, mutta sitten miellyinkin edellisen omistajan valitsemaan ostatukalliseen peruukkiin. Nyt pitää miettiä, viitsinkö oikeasti hankkia Lauralle uutta peruukkia sittenkään. Peruukkien lisäksi vaihto-chipien ja Obitsun hankkiminen kummittelee aina välillä mielessä. Toisaalta taas olen mitoittanut kaikki tekemäni vaatteet stock-kropalle, joten tämäkin päätös tarvitsee vielä harkintaa. 

This year Nella got a new wig. Next year I am going to try to buy a new wig for at least Albireo, unless what happened with Laura happens with him too: I had already planned to get Laura a long black wig with middle-parting or a black mohair wig, but then I ended up liking the wig her previous owner had chosen for her. Now I must think if I really want to get her a new wig after all. In addition to wigs, I am occasionally considering getting some new eyechips or an Obitsu body. On the other hand, I have measured all the clothes I have made to fit the stock body, so this decision too requires some further consideration.

Sanoin joskus aiemmin täällä blogissa, että yritän loppuvuoden aikana miettiä kaikille nukeille nimet... Siihen tavoitteeseen ei ihan päästy. Hahmojen taustat ja luonteenpiireet on tosin jo mietitty ainakin pääpiirteittäin, joten voisin alkaa kirjoittelemaan näitä puhtaaksi profiileihin, kun ehdin. (Tässä näyttää olevan nimien päättämisen ohella ensi vuoden tavoite. :D)

I have mentioned on this blog that I would try to come up with names for all my dolls by the end of the year... I did not quite reach that goal. However, the backgrounds and personality traits of their characters have already been thought of, at least in outline, so I could start writing these down on their profile pages, when I have time. (This sounds like the goal for the next year, along with the names. :D)

Olen tyytyväinen ompeluprojektien määrään tänä vuonna. Kaikkea ei toki kerennyt toteuttamaan ja osa projekteista jää ensi vuodelle, mutta pitää huomioida ajankäyttö ja olla realistinen. Sain kuitenkin aikaiseksi useamman asukokonaisuuden ja paljon erityyppistä vaatetta (arkivaatteita, mekkoja, päähineitä...) ja samalla koen kehittyneeni vaatteiden suunnittelussa ja kaavoituksessa. Ensi vuoden suunnitelmissa olisi tehdä ainakin talvivaatteita, housuja, kenkiä, takkeja, koruja ja lisää mekkoja. 

I am happy with the number of completed sewing projects this year. Naturally, I could not carry out all my ideas and some projects will be left for the next year, but I must consider the time available and be realistic. At least I managed to finish several full outfits and make a lot of clothes of different kinds (casual clothes, dresses, headwear...) and in process, I feel I have improved in designing and pattern making. My plans for the next year include at least making winter clothes, trousers, shoes, jackets, jewellery, and more dresses.

Ehdin myös tehdä muutamia miniatyyriesineitä. Käytin näissä lähes kaikissa materiaalina puuta, joten ensi vuonna olisi kiva kokeilla myös muita materiaaleja (esimerkiksi polymeerimassaa). Haluaisin yrittää myös isompien proppien tekoa: nuket tarvitsisivat ainakin pöytiä, tuoleja, yms. perushuonekaluja.

I also managed to make a few miniature items. I used wood as a material in almost all of these, so next year it would be fun to try other materials as well (polymer clay, for example). I would also like to try making larger props: my dolls would need at least tables, chairs, etc. basic furniture.

Vuoden aikana tuli koettua monia mieleenpainuvia kuvauksia. Oli hauskaa ja virkistävää kuvata tuttuja paikkoja "nukkenäkökulmasta" pitkästä aikaa. Samalla kuvaustekniikkani kehittyi niin kameran käytössä kuin nukkejen asettelussakin. Kokeilin rohkeammin uusia asioita ja koin iloisia yllätyksiä, kun monet kuvat onnistuivat jopa odotettua paremmin. Myös vanha kamerani sai päivitystä uudella linssillä vuoden lopulla. Ensi vuonna pyrin tietysti kehittymään vielä lisää. ^^ 

I experienced many memorable photoshoots this year. It was fun and refreshing to photograph familiar places from "doll's point of view" for a long time. At the same time, my photography technique improved both in use of the camera and in arranging the dolls. I dared to be more experimental and I experienced positive surprises when the photos turned out even better than expected. At the end of the year, my old camera got updated with a new lense, too. Next year I aim to improve even more, of course. ^^

Christmas photos

 

Tässä postauksessa joulukuun kuvasaldoa, koska ehdin kuin ehdinkin toteuttamaan muutamia jouluisista kuvausideoistani. :> Tässä postauksessa esiintyy myös pari uutta tuttavuutta, koska olen loppusyksyn ja alkutalven aikana hankkinut muutaman uuden nuken, joista en ole vielä tehnyt omia postauksia. Hiljattain hankin myös kameraani uuden objektiivin (Canon EF-S 24 mm f/2,8 STM), jonka käyttöä harjoittelen näissä kuvissa.

Neuloin nukeilleni aloituskuvassa näkyvän tonttupipon, joka päätyi Merlin päähän, koska hahmoistani Merl todennäköisimmin pitäisi tonttupipoa vapaaehtoisesti. :D Kuvaa Merlin koko asusta:

 

Some of December's photos in this post as I managed to realize a few of my Christmas themed photoshoot ideas. :> In this post there will be a couple of new faces, too, as during late fall and early winter I have bought several new dolls of whom I have not made posts before. Recently I also bought a new lens (Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM) which I am trying out in these photos.

I knitted a Christmas hat for my dolls (shown in the first photo) and it ended up on Merl, because wearing a Christmas hat voluntarily was most in character for her. :D Merl's whole outfit:

 

Seuraavaksi huijaan ja postaan vanhan kuvan, koska se on yksi suosikkijoulukuvistani. Suunnittelin ottavani tänä vuonna uusia versioita vanhoista joulukuvista ja katsoa, millaista kehitystä huomaan, mutta unohdin... Joka tapauksessa tässä kuva Nellasta vuoden 2014 jouluaattona.

Next, I am going to cheat by posting an old photo, because it is one of my favourite Christmas photos. I planned to retake some old Christmas photos this year to see how I have improved, but I forgot... Anyways, here is a photo of Nella on Christmas Eve 2014.

Seuraava kuva on ehdottomasti yksi suosikeistani niin lopputuloksen kuin toteuttamisenkin kannalta – pienten lahjapakettien askartelu oli hauskaa, tuosta peurakoristeesta tuli mielestäni supersöpö ja pääsin hyödyntämään Re-Ment-miniatyyrejani. Pitää ottaa enemmän tämäntyyppisiä kuvia. 

The next photo is one of my absolute favourites both in terms of the result and the process – making tiny presents was fun, I think that the deer ornament turned out super cute and I got to use my Re-Ment miniatures. I should take more photos like this.

Olin ostanut myös jouluaiheisia miniatyyreja, mutta valitettavasti en ehtinyt kuvata niitä kaikkia kunnolla. Esimerkiksi ostamistani jouluherkuista olen ottanut vain tämän seuraavan räpsyn. Toki nämä muuten piristivät ja toivat joulumieltä, vaikka kaikkea ei tullutkaan ikuistettua. Odotan vain jo ensi joulua, että pääsisin kuvaamaan näitä lisää. :D

I had also bought Christmas themed miniatures, but sadly I did not have time to photograph them all properly. For example, the next photo is the only one I have took of the Christmas foods I bought. However, despite not being able to photograph everything, they cheered me up and brought some Christmas spirit. I am already waiting for the next Christmas and getting to photograph these more, though. :D

 

Seuraavissa kuvissa Noanin kanssa uusi nukke eli Isul Yun (jonka arvostelupostaus on työn alla). Tuo lähikuva on paketoimiskuvan ohella suosikkini näistä postauksen kuvista ja ehkä jopa yksi koko vuoden suosikeistani. Joulukuusen koristelu on itselleni ehkä tärkein jouluperinne, joten oli hauskaa pystyä toteuttamaan se myös nukkekoossa. 

In the following pictures with Noan is a new doll, Isul Yun (on whose review I am working on). The close-up is, along with the gift-wrapping photo, my favourite of the photos in this post and maybe even one of my favourites of the whole year. Decorating the Christmas tree is probably the most important Christmas tradition to me, so it was fun to be able to do it in doll scale as well.

Viimeisenä vielä toinen uusi nukke: Pullip Laura. Lauran asu on itse tehty ja siitä on tulossa parempia kuvia myöhemmin. Tarkoituksena on ollut kuvata tätä ulkona lumessa (kuten myös muita nukkeja), mutta totta kai silloin, kun olisi ollut aikaa, niin satoi vettä monta päivää ja lumi suli rumiksi kasoiksi. No, talvea on vielä jäljellä ja luotan siihen, että ensi vuonna tulee suotuisia kuvaussäitä. ^^ 

Lastly, another new doll: Pullip Laura. Laura's outfit is made by me, and I will hopefully post better photos of it later. The plan has been to photograph it outside in the snow (as well as some other dolls) but of course when I would have had time, it rained for several days, which melted snow into ugly piles. Oh well, there is still winter left, and I trust that next year there will be favourable weathers for photoshoots. ^^

Yritän vielä kirjoittaa yhden postauksen ennen uutta vuotta, mutta varmuuden vuoksi toivotan kaikille hyvää alkavaa vuotta jo nyt. :>

I will try to write one more post before the new year, but just in case, I wish everyone a happy new year now already. :>

Nella's new outfit

Hei taas kaikille. :>

Ehdin kirjoittaa vielä toisen postauksen tässä kuussa ja esitellä Nellan uutta asua, jonka mainitsin aikaisemmin. Sain tähän asuun inspiraation 1500-luvun puolivälin italialaisesta muodista. Koska en ole mikään historian enkä vaatetuksen asiantuntija, ei tarkoituksena ollut yrittää tehdä mitään historiallisesti tarkkaa jäljennöstä, vaan juurikin vain aikakaudesta inspiroitunut asu. 

Hello again everyone. :>

I had time to post for another time this month and show off Nella's new outfit I mentioned earlier. I got inspiration for this outfit from mid-1500s Italian fashion. Since I am no expert of history nor clothing, I did not attempt to make a historically accurate replica, but just an outfit inspired by the historical era.

Tämä sekä postauksen ensimmäinen kuva on otettu samasta puutarhasta kuin edellisen postauksen kuvat Megistä. Loput kuvat on otettu samalta hautausmaalta, jossa kuvasin Seila Nocturnea.  

This and the first photo of the post were taken at the same garden as the photos of Meg in the previous post. The rest of the photos was taken at the same cemetery where I photographed Seila Nocturne.

 

Täydellinen kangas mekkoon löytyi sattumalta Eurokankaan palakangaslaatikosta. Hunnun reunojen huolitteluun käytin jämäpitsin palasen, ja huntu pysyy päässä Pullipin pakkausmuovista tehdyllä pannalla. (Tiedättehän, sellainen läpinäkyvä taipuisa kaistale, jolla nukke on kiinnitetty pakettiin.) Hihoissa ja kaula-aukossa sekä hiuskoristeessa käyttämäni helmet ovat peräisin vuosien takaisesta Sinooperin loppuunmyynnistä. :D

A perfect fabric for the dress was found by chance in a scrap fabric box of Eurokangas. I used a piece of leftover lace to finish the edges of the veil, and the veil stays on thanks to a hairband made of plastic from Pullip packaging. (You know, the kind of transparent flexible strip that keeps the doll attached to the box.) The pearls used in sleeves, neckline and hair accessory are from closeout of Sinooperi years ago. :D

 

Haluaisin ehtiä kuvaamaan joulukuussa enemmän kuin mitä nyt. En ole mikään jouluihminen, mutta jostain syystä jouluiset nukkekuvailut ovat inspiroineet viime aikoina todella paljon. Niin paljon ideoita ja niin vähän aikaa. :'D No, jos edes muutamat kivat kuvaukset ehdin järjestämään, niin olen tyytyväinen. Auringonlasku jo kello kolmen jälkeen toki tuo omat haasteensa tähän... Joka tapauksessa: toivottavasti seuraavassa postauksessa ollaan jo talvisemmissa tunnelmissa, mutta jos ei niin minulla on edelleen julkaisemattomia kesäkuvia. :DD

I would like to be able to take more photos in December than now. I am not really a Christmas person, but for some reason Christmas themed doll photoshoots have inspired me a lot lately. So many ideas and so little time. :'D Well, if I manage to arrange even a few nice photoshoots, I will be happy. The sunset already after 3 pm certainly makes this all a bit more difficult... Syyskuvien aika!

Vierailin paikallisessa esittelypuutarhassa Megin ja Nellan kanssa. (Nellan kuvat julkaisen myöhemmin.) Alun perin tarkoituksenani oli mennä jo kesällä, mutta en ehtinytkään. En kuitenkaan ole turhan harmistunut tästä, sillä mielestäni puutarha näyttää upealta myös syksyllä, kun monet puut ja kasvit ovat saaneet ruskavärityksensä. Puutarha on sitä paitsi varsin suosittu paikka kesäisin, joten kuvien ottaminen oli nyt helpompaa, kun ihmisiä oli vähemmän. Ehkä ensi vuonna tulee tilaisuus ottaa täällä myös kesäkuvia. Joka tapauksessa: tervetuloa seuraamaan Megin seikkailuja puutarhassa. :D

Time to post some autumn photos!

I visited a local demonstration garden with Meg (and Nella but I will post the photos of her later). I actually meant to go already in the summer, but in the end, I did not have time. I am not too disappointed about that, though, because I think the garden looks amazing in the autumn, too, when many trees and plants turn into their autumn colours. Besides, the garden is quite popular in the summer, so it was easier to take photos now when there were fewer people around. Maybe next year I get a chance to take some photos here in the summer as well. Anyways, welcome to follow Meg's adventure through the garden. :D

 

Tajusin, ettei minulla ole vieläkään kunnollisia kuvia Megistä stock-asussaan. Olin jo suunnitellut täydellisiä kuvauspaikkoja elokuulle, mutta olinkin silloin odotettua kiireisempi, joten nuo suunnitelmat jäivät toteuttamatta. Vaikuttaa siltä, että suosikkiasuni Megillä koostuvat Megin stockien ja Merliltä lainattujen vaatteiden yhdistelmistä. Baskerin virkkasin jämälangasta, jossa oli nipin napin tarpeeksi (huh), ja huivin kudoin bouclé-langasta. Uusien tekstuurien kokeilu nukeilla on hauskaa. ^^

I realized that I still do not have any proper photos of Meg in her full stock outfit. I had planned some perfect locations for photoshoots in August, but I turned out to be busier than I expected, so those never got carried out. Seems like my favourite outfits for Meg consist of her stock pieces as well as borrowed clothes from Merl's stock. I crocheted the beret out of leftover yarn that was just barely enough (phew) and her scarf is knitted from bouclé yarn. It is fun to experiment with different textures on dolls. ^^

Tämä on ihan täydellinen paikka kuvauksille pienten polkujen, kivien ja aitojen ansiosta – uusia ideoita tulee, minne tahansa katsoo. Vierailin puutarhassa itse asiassa kahtena päivänä, mutta ei silti vielä tunnu, että olisin tutkinut sen täydellisesti läpi. Kaksi seuraavaa kuvaa ei ole otettu puutarhassa, mutta postaan ne nyt joka tapauksessa, koska sopivat teemaan. Nuken neuletakki on itse tehty kuten myös toppi ja collegehousut. (Nämä näkyvät huonosti päällysvaatteiden alta, mutta lisää kuvia kesältä on tulossa... joskus.) Aurinkolasit, huivi ja pipo ovat Mildan Boutiquen.

The tiny paths, rocks and fences make this a perfect place for photoshoots – you get new ideas wherever you look. I actually visited the garden on two days, but I still do not feel that I have fully explored it yet.  The two following photos of Noan were not taken at the garden, but I post them here anyways because they kind of fit the theme. The doll's cardigan is made by me as well as the top and the sweatpants. (They cannot be properly seen under the outerwear, but more photos from the summer will be posted... someday.) Sunglasses, scarf and beanie are from Mildan Boutique.

Yöt kylmenevät, mutta en ole nähnyt vielä lunta. Oikeastaan jo odotan ensilumen tuloa, sillä lumesta saa niin kivoja taustoja kuville, vaikka lumessa toki on omat ongelmansa. :D Todennäköisesti tulen myös ottamaan enemmän kuvia sisätiloissa, joten yritän tällä hetkellä löytää ja tehdä hyviä proppeja ja taustoja tätä varten. Mitä teille kuuluu?

Nights are getting cold here, but I have not seen snow yet. I am actually kind of looking forward to first snow. :D Sure, snow has its problems, but it also makes great backgrounds for photos... I will probably be taking more photos indoors, too, so I am currently trying to find and make good props and backgrounds for that. How are you all doing?

Vaikka en itse vietäkään halloweenia, ajattelin, että nyt olisi sopiva aika postailla joitakin teemaan sopivia (blogissa) julkaisemattomia kuvia. Kävin myös kuvaamassa Seila Nocturnea hautausmaalla. Postauksen aloituskuva on yksi ehdottomista suosikkikuvistani tuolta reissulta. Varoituksena että tämä postaus on vaihteeksi poikkeuksellisen kuvapainotteinen.

I do not celebrate Halloween myself, but I thought that this would be an appropriate time to post some theme-related photos I have not published (on this blog) yet. I also did a photoshoot at a cemetery with Seila Nocturne. The opening photo of the post is one of my absolute favourites from that photoshoot. As a warning, this post will be exceptionally photo focused.

Toisessa ja kolmannessa kuvassa Merlin stock-mekon alla näkyvä kauluspaita on itse tehty. Olen puhunut tästä aikaisemmin Instagramin puolella mutta en täällä blogissa, joten mainittakoon, että tästä asukokonaisuudesta on tullut suosikkiasuni CA Sepialle. Olin pitkään harkinnut Sepian chipien vaihtoa, koska tasaisen harmaat silmät tuntuivat (muka) tylsiltä. Nyt olen vaihteeksi taas päättänyt, että stock chipit ovat ja pysyvät, koska nukke näyttää tällaisena niin hyvältä kokovalkoisissa asuissa.

Ennen Seila Nocturnen hankkimista CA Sepia oli luottonukkeni kaikkiin kuvauksiin, joihin halusin jotain synkempää fiilistä: Sepialla oli nukeistani tummin face-up ja harmaansävyistä sai helposti aavemaista tunnelmaa. (Toisaalta Sepialle on nukeistani myös se, jolle vaaleanpunainen ja muut pastellisävyt sopivat parhaiten. :D Molempien ääripäiden nukke...) Sepian kuvaus tosin jäi tänä syksynä vähemmälle, koska priorisoin muita nukkeja. Kuvausideoita tosin olisi vielä, ja toivon, että ehtisin ainakin osan näistä toteuttamaan.

Sitten Seila Nocturnea:

The blouse under Merl's stock dress in the second and the third photo is handmade. I have talked about this earlier on my Instagram but not on this blog, so I shall mention that this outfit has become my favourite outfit for CA Sepia. I had thought about changing Sepia's eye chips for a long time as plain grey eyes seemed "boring" to me. Now I have, for a change, decided that the stock chips stay because the doll looks so good in all-white outfits this way.

Before I got Seila Nocturne, CA Sepia used to be my go-to doll for all photoshoots with darker atmosphere: Sepia has the darkest face-up of my dolls and the grayscale colour scheme can be used to create a ghostly mood. (On the other hand, Sepia is the doll for whom pink and other pastel colours suit the best. :D Talk about extremes...) However, I photographed Sepia less this year as I prioritized Seila Nocturne. I still have some photoshoot ideas for Sepia, though, so I hope I have time to realize at least some of those.

Nämä kuvat on otettu pari päivää Nocturnen paketin avaamisen jälkeen. Nuo kolmanneksi ja toiseksi viimeiset kuvat ovat kyllä ihan suosikkeja. Yleisesti näistä tulee vähän (tahattomat) Crimson Peak -vibat. :D

These photos were taken a couple of days after I opened her box. The third to last as well as the second to last photos are totally my favourites. In general, these photos kind of give out (unintentional) Crimson Peak vibes. :D

Kaikki synkemmät ympäristöt ovat suosikkikuvausaiheitani, joten tämäntyyppiset kuvat eivät tule rajoittumaan yhteen lokakuiseen postaukseen vuodessa. Näihin ympäristöihin sopivat nuket ovat myös niitä, jotka kiinnostavat ja inspiroivat eniten. Itse asiassa tämäntyyppisten nukkejen katraani tulee saamaan yhden tytön vahvistuksen piakkoin, sillä ostin käytettynä erään nuken toivelistaltani. ;D En vielä paljasta, mikä malli on kyseessä – halukkaat voivat arvuutella – mutta toivottavasti saan kuvattua tätäkin piakkoin. Sitä ennen yritän tosin saada käytyä ne syyskuvat läpi eli seuraavissa postauksissa on tulossa ainakin paljon Nellaa ja Megiä. 

All environments with darker mood are my favourite subjects to photograph, so this sort of photos will not be limited to one annual post in October. The dolls suitable for these kinds of environments are also the ones that interest and inspire me the most. In fact, my pack of this type of dolls will receive a reinforcement of one new girl soon as I bought one doll from my wishlist second-hand. ;D I will not reveal what model it is yet – you are free to leave your guesses – but hopefully I am able to take photos of her soon, too. However, before that I try to go through those autumn photos. In other words, in the next posts we will see at least Nella and Meg. 

A new wig for Nella

Olen viimeinkin saanut otettua kuvia Nellan uudesta peruukista. :D Ennen uusia kuvia vähän nuken historiaa ja mietteitä peruukkivalinnoista:

Elokuu 2014, Nella on vielä täysin stock / August 2014, Nella is still fully stock

Ostin Nellan uutena ja täysin stockina. Olin ihastunut asun lisäksi nuken face-upiin, jossa kiinnitin erityistä huomiota kulmakarvoihin: harvalla Pullipilla on yhtä pienet kulmat kuin Nellalla. Tämäntyyppiset kulmat ovat mieleeni jo itsessään, mutta lisäksi pidän siitä, että kulmat yhdistettynä nuken raollaan olevaan suuhun saavat nuken näyttämään hämmentyneeltä, lievästi yllättyneeltä tai hieman huolestuneelta. Nella siis erottui muista, yleensä hymyilevistä Pullipeista edukseen. Nellan peruukki ei kuitenkaan tee oikeutta näille kulmille, koska promokuvista poiketen peruukin otsahiukset peittävät kulmat lähes täysin. Tämä oli yksi niistä syistä, jotka saivat minut alun perin harkitsemaan peruukin vaihtoa huolimatta siitä, että mielestäni Nellan peruukki on yksi ikonisimmista ja tunnistettavimmista stock-peruukeista. (En silloin uskaltanut lähteä lyhentämään stock-peruukin otsahiuksia.)

Stock-peruukissa ei siis ole mitään vikaa: peruukki on yksi suosikeistani, kampaus on ihastuttava, eikä laadussakaan ole moitittavaa (lukuun ottamatta pientä epätasaisuutta otsahiuksissa). Letitkin ovat pysyneet kasassa joitakin yksittäisiä hiuksia lukuun ottamatta. Vaikka pidän stock-peruukista, Nellaa kuvatessa tuntui, että tummempi sävy sopisi nukelle paremmin ja toisi kontrastia nuken todella kalpeisiin kasvoihin. Silloin myös toivoin punahiuksista nukkea ja Nella oli täydellinen "uhri" punertavine kulmakarvoineen. (Kulmat toki ovat enemminkin oranssit, mutta silloin nuo tuntuivat tarpeeksi punaisilta. :P) Myös lettikampaus alkoi tuntua liian rajoittavalta niin paljon kuin Nellan leteistä pidänkin. Näistä syistä päädyin tilaamaan Nellalle punaisen peruukin, johon sai tehtyä jakauksen niin, että kulmat näkyvät. Peruukki oli kuin olikin mieleinen: se toi onnistuneesti kaivattua kontrastia ja sopi mielestäni hyvin yhteen nuken silmien ja yleisen olemuksen kanssa. Tällä peruukilla mentiin monta vuotta.

I bought Nella as new and fully stock. In addition to the outfit, I had fallen in love with doll's face up, especially the eyebrows: few Pullip dolls have as small eyebrows as Nella. This kind of eyebrows suit my taste on their own, but I also like how the brows combined with the slightly open mouth make the doll look confused, slightly surprised, or mildly worried – something very different from the usual smiling Pullip dolls. However, Nella's wig does not do justice to these brows, because unlike in the promo photos, the wig's fringe covers the eyebrows almost completely. This was one of the reasons that made me consider changing the wig, despite it being one of the most iconic and recognizable stock wigs in my opinion. (At that time, I did not have courage to shorten the fringe of the stock wig.)

To make things clear, I do not think there is anything wrong with the stock wig: it is one of my favourites, the hairstyle is lovely, and I do not have complaints about the quality either (apart from the slight unevenness of the fringe). The braids have stayed in one piece except for some singular hairs. Even though I like the stock wig, I felt like a darker colour would suit Nella better and bring some contrast to her very pale face when I was taking photos of her. At that time, I also wanted a red-haired doll and Nella was a perfect "victim" with her reddish eyebrows. (Although they are more orange than red but at that time, they were close enough. :P) The hairstyle also started to feel too restricting as much as I like the braids. For these reasons, I ended up ordering Nella a red wig that could be styled so that the eyebrows are visible. Luckily, I was happy with the wig: it successfully brought the wanted contrast and matched doll's eyes and overall appearance. Nella had this wig for many many years.

Aloin kuitenkin kaivata Nellan alkuperäistä ulkonäköä jossain vaiheessa. En kuitenkaan halunnut stock-peruukkia enää takaisin, koska olin vaihtanut sen syystä. (Stock-peruukki on vielä kyllä tallessa "kaiken varalta". :>) Lisäksi olin jo liian tottunut punaiseen sävyyn. Niinpä päädyin tekemään kompromissin ja tilaamaan uuden peruukin, joka oli jotain uuden ja alkuperäisen väliltä. Tavoitteena oli löytää peruukki, joka olisi mahdollisimman samaa väriä nuken kulmakarvojen kanssa. Lutsin väri "orange peach" näytti kuvissa aivan täydelliseltä ja jännitin, näyttäisikö se "livenä" yhtä hyvältä. 

Peruukki saapui noin kuukausi sitten ja väri osoittautui täydelliseksi. Jouduin tosin lyhentämään otsahiuksia hieman, jotta sain kulmakarvat näkyviin, mutta tämäkin sujui onneksi ongelmitta. Tässä kuvia uudesta peruukista:  

However, I started to miss Nella's original look at some point. Yet, I did not want her stock wig back as I had changed it for reasons. (I still have the stock wig "just in case", though. :>) Besides, I had already got too used to her having red hue. So, I ended up in a compromise and ordered her a new wig that would be something between the current and the original wig. The goal was to find a wig that would be as close as possible to the colour of her eyebrows. The colour called "orange peach" by Luts looked like a perfect match in the photos and I was excited to see if it looked just as good in real world. 

The wig arrived around a month ago and the colour turned out to be perfect. I had to shorten the fringe a bit in order to make the eyebrows visible, but I luckily did not have any problems with this either. Here are some photos of the new wig:

Nella on ainoa Pullip, jolle olen vaihtanut peruukin, sillä olen ostanut ainoastaan julkaisuja, joista pidän kokonaisuudessaan. Sinällään siis huvittavaa, että kaikki tähänastiset peruukkiostokset ovat menneet Nellalle. :D Katsotaan, mitä keksin tuolle vanhalle peruukille...

Tykkään muuten myös tuon uuden peruukin pituudesta ja muotoilusta ylipäätään: se on raikkaanoloinen ja kiharat ovat ihanan pöyheät. Lisäksi se vastaa visiotani täydellisesti: on hieno tunne, kun juuri se oikea peruukki (tai muu osa) löytyy ja nukke on tavallaan "valmis". Toki tämä sama tunne oli varmaan silloin kun ihastuin tuohon edelliseen peruukkiin. :D Katsotaan, tuleeko vuonna 2030 joku uusi peruukin hypetyspostaus, kun taas on löytynyt se täydellinen peruukki ja nukke on taas valmis. Mutta tämä varmaan kuuluu tähän harrastukseen... Tällä hetkellä tosin on sellainen olo, että kaikki on nyt, miten pitääkin, enkä vaihda tuota enää ikinä. :> Jee.

Jos joku harkitsee vastaavanlaisen peruukin hankkimista, niin voin sanoa, että itse ainakin olen tyytyväinen peruukin laatuun. Kuitu on sileää, peruukkiverkko ei näy ja ainakin näin äkkiseltään tämä yksilö vaikuttaa helppohoitoiselta, eikä takkuunnu samalla tavalla mitä maata laahaavat pitkät peruukit tai korkkiruuvikiharat.

Nella is the only Pullip whose wig I have changed as I have bought only releases who I like in their entirety. So, it is kind of funny that all wig purchases this far have gone to Nella. Let's see what I come up with that old wig...

By the way, I also like the lenght and style of the wig in general: it looks fresh and the curls are adorably fluffy. In addition, it matches my vision perfectly: it is such a nice feeling when you find the exact wig (or other part) you want and the doll is, in a way, "complete". Sure, I probably had this same feeling when I  fell in love with that previous wig. :D We will see if in 2030 I will post about a new wig hyping that it is the one and the doll is now (once again) complete. But this is probably part of this hobby... However, at the moment I do feel that everything is now as it should and that I will not change that wig ever again. :> Yay. 

In case of someone considering buying a similar wig: Personally, I am happy with the quality. The fiber is smooth, the wig cap is not showing anywhere and at least for now this wig seems easy to take care of as it does not get tangled like corkscrew curls or wigs long enough to touch the ground.  

Lopuksi taas joitain yleisiä kuulumisia: 

Niin paljon julkaisemattomia kuvia! En ole ehtinyt julkaista edes kaikkia syksykuvia vielä, mutta ehkä priorisoin halloweeniin sopivien kuvien julkaisua ensin. Lisäksi voin paljastaa, että projekti, jonka mainitsin edellisessä postauksessa, on uusi asukokonaisuus. Olen ollut erityisen tyytyväinen siihen, miltä Nella näyttää tässä asussa, joten myös kuvia on kertynyt runsaasti. Pitäisi alkaa käymään näitä läpi ja tehdä niistä ehkä oma postaus. Lisäksi tätä postausta kirjoittaessa tuli sellainen olo, että olisi vaikka kuinka paljon kerrottavaa myös vanhoista nukeista: mistä yksityiskohdista erityisesti pidän, miksi valitsin juuri tämän nuken, mitä mieltä olen vaatteiden ja peruukin laadusta, ja niin edelleen. Teen ehkä jossain vaiheessa arvostelupostauksien sarjan myös vanhoille nukkehankinnoille.

Varmaan ainoat asiat, joista en pidä syksyssä, ovat jatkuvat sateet ja päivien lyheneminen. Nämä molemmat kun rajoittavat valokuvaamista ja nukkejen "ulkoiluttamista". Odotan kuitenkin jo innolla talvikuvien ottamista. Pitäisi tätä ennen tosin tehdä nukeille lisää talvivaatteita. Intoa riittäisi vaikka mihin, mutta valitettavasti opinnot rajoittavat käytettävissä olevaa aikaa rankasti. En voi uskoa, että viime postauksestakin on jo kuukausi: aika menee todella nopeasti. Seuraavien projektien suunnitelmat ovat siis jo valmiina, mutta toteuttaminen on vielä vaiheessa. :P Tällä hetkellä inspiroi neulonta, virkkaus, neutraalit sävyt ja kaikki pehmeä ja lämpöinen. :-)

Finally, some general news:

I have so many unpublished photos! I have not even had time to publish all the autumn photos yet, but I think I am going to prioritize posting Halloween themed photos first. In addition, I can reveal that the project I mentioned in the last post is a new outfit. I have been particularly pleased with how it looks on Nella, so I have taken a lot of photos. I should start going through those and maybe make them a post on their own. In addition, while writing this post, I started to feel like there is a lot to tell about my old dolls as well: which details I especially like, why I chose this particular doll, what I think about the quality of the clothes and wig, and so on. Maybe at some point I will make a series of review posts for old doll purchases as well.

Probably the only things I do not like in autumn are constant rain and short days as these both limit photographing and taking dolls outside. However, I am looking forward to taking winter photos already. I should make my dolls new winter clothes before this, though. I am full of enthusiasm but sadly my studies heavily limit my free time. I cannot believe that it has been a month already since the last post: time goes very fast. In other words, plans for next projects are ready but the realization is still in progress. At the moment, I get inspired by knitting, crocheting, neutral colours and everything soft and warm. :-)
